My Project

The students will benefit from the variety of resources in several ways. The daily emotional check-in wipe off boards and markers will enhance our morning circle routine to provide an opportunity for me to check in with the students and see how they're feeling for the day and whether or not they're ready to learn. The Hear Myself sound phones will give the students a chance to hear how they sound when they read which will build their phonemic awareness and fluency. This is a critical component for first graders as they learn to read. Given that the students in this class have struggled through COVID restrictions which included wearing masks, the sound phones will provide them with immediate feedback on how their reading sounds. The Addition Tower and Subtraction Tower math games will support the students in communicating with one another effectively as they work in small groups. They will need to communicate with one another, which was not possible during COVID restrictions, in order to pull pieces from the tower without making it fall. The addition and subtraction skills are critical building blocks for math fluency in first grade. The pattern block activity cards are also going to support working in small groups and collaborating with one another which wasn't possible during COVID restrictions. The All About Me posters will provide students the opportunity to share about themselves as we continue to get to know one another. This supports their overall well-being as they engage in asking questions and providing feedback to the student who is sharing from their poster.
