My Project

The supplies that I am requesting will be used to help engage focus and attentiveness. First, the rolling white board is to assist me and my EA while we are both working with our small groups, as we only have one white board at the front of the class. Secondly, the snacks will be used as high reinforcers to reward students for behavior. Thirdly, the sensory supplies will help students with their nervousness during speaking and listening lessons. Fourth, the tape will help section off areas of group learning and the laminating pouches will be used to make flashcards more long-lasting. Lastly, my students have to paint and one of my students is a very excellent painter who has volunteered to teach her peers a few lessons using water colors. So as you can see, these supplies will help my students to focus, learn, and thrive.

My students are special in every way, not because they have special needs but because they try their best to overcome their disability.

I don't treat my students as if they have a disability because I know their potential. Some of my students, I have known and have taught them consecutively for 2 to 3 years. I have seen their growth and see their potential. My goal for them is to see their own potential. I am also teaching them how to advocate for themselves, skills that not most children can attain. As you can see, they are special in so many ways, except for the fact that they have a learning disability. I do my very best to reassure them that they can achieve everything that they put their minds to.
