Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My AP Spanish Literature read numerous poems, essays, and narratives. My students have reading comprehension skills but need improvement in analysis. An important element of analysis is to explore the biography of the author and make a connection with his era. "I intend to put beauty in my mind"

My classes consist of 9-12 grade high school students.

I teach a range of levels starting from Spanish 1 Natives to AP Spanish Literature. They are an energetic, creative, and a curious group. My school is a small campus that educates 450 students in an under serve community.

My Project

My students conduct research in a weekly basis, they either work individually or with a group and transfer their findings into Prezi or PowerPoints and present them to their peers. A few years ago we received a projector through Donors Choose, which has allowed them present their projects. Hurrah! However, recently we have experienced a lot of moving and sharing of classrooms and we are in need of a cart to keep our projector and other material safe and so the students can share their presentations regardless of our location. Our students learn about authors biographies, Latin American countries, fine arts, etc.

The donation of this project will make our students well rounded in different areas such as, geography, culture differences, identification of time periods in literature, genre, historical, political, and social events.

My students lives will be impacted because they will be effective communicators, critical thinkers, and college ready.
