Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I love my happy, go-lucky students. They are an inspiring bunch of kids who love learning new things but because of limited resources, they are not able to experience many new things outside of school.

I vision many of them as leaders and I'm sure most will make significant contributions to the community.

They are smart, value education and will want to help others.

Most of my students are on free or reduced lunch and without support, would not have access to learning experiences outside the classroom. I'm anxious to give them more and to enhance their learning during these most important and informative years.

My Project

My students need extensive practice to learn new concepts and skills. Making copies for them to practice is not cost-effective. I find that many of the worksheets used can be recirculated by putting them in a plastic sleeve and allowing the students to used dry erase markers to write on the sleeves. Although I have requested for students to have 4 dry erase markers for their supplies, probably less than 10 percent have them. I am requesting the dry erase markers for the other 90 percent. I am also requesting ink for the printer I have in my room. The ink will be used to allow students to print their lesson certificates from the math program we utilize, called Imagine Math. I have found that when the students see their certificate in print, it becomes an incentive for them to achieve more, which I will be happy to display for them.
