This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Teaching in a low-income inner-city community for the past 18 years has been an amazing experience. Much of my teaching has been with third grade and above.
This school year will be a whole new experience for me and my students.
It is my first year in Pre-K and for many of the students, it will be their first experience in school. The past year has been hard for all, especially the families of NYC. It is important that these children are provided with a fun, safe learning environment where much of the learning is through play and fun activities.
My Project
The students in Pre-K learn by doing and seeing. Please help me provide many opportunites for them to learn how to measure, mix and cook throughout the entire school year. Cooking is a life skill and taps into all of our senses, especially smelling and tasting.
What is better than making your own snack and then getting to enjoy it?!
All kids love to help out in the kitchen and can learn so much through a simple task. By having easy access to these materials will not only provide teachable moments but will also create memories to last a lifetime.
