Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school, no, our district, believes in supporting students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. The materials I am requesting will be used to support that goal. In my classroom, I encourage self-advocacy, intrinsic motivation, self-sufficiency, and self-efficacy. Realistically, though, who doesn't appreciate some recognition for a job well done? Or a reminder that we are working hard to reach a goal? Or tokens of appreciation? As humans, we all do.

The materials I am requesting, rubber ducks, bouncy balls, cute stickers, etc will be used to encourage, reward, and remind students that their efforts towards self-improvement and growth matter.

These items are kitschy but are popular with tweens and teens. I have seen how small things like these, together with intrinsic motivation and positive words and encouragement from others, can change and improve the mindset of students for the better.
