These 33 4th and 5th graders are highly curious and eager to learn about the world around them. They are great at asking questions that take their learning to the next level. Each day is a new learning adventure for these students. They thrive on connecting our learning in the classroom to the real world around them.
The majority of these students are of low socioeconomic level, and the experiences in the classroom are some of the most memorable they will have.
My Project
Using this awesome compound microscope, students will get a view of their world from the microscopic perspective they have never seen before.
They will learn about water quality in reference to the microorganisms that are found in it.
We will explore microscopic parts of plants and insects. We will also observe microscopic life found in local water sources. I'm hoping to pique the students' curiosity in the field of environmental and life sciences. Most of my students have never seen a microscope. Once they are provided with a chance to explore using a microscope a whole new window of opportunities will open to them.
