My Project

Young children have an incredible capacity for learning! It is so important to me as an educator to help develop strong early literacy skills in order to set my students up for reading success. I am a firm believer in the famous quote from Maria Montessori, “What the hand does, the mind remembers.”

Students can internalize concepts by learning through experiences.

It is my hope to provide my students with tactile tools to help strengthen their reading skills. The toolkits and materials I am requesting for my classroom will allow me to work closely with my 1st grade students to strengthen their literacy skills. As we shift to the Science of Reading in education, I am always looking for engaging ways to make learning to read exciting. The Little Minds at Work toolkit will assist me in small group instruction, particularly during our “Walk to Read” time, a daily reading intervention block my school implements.
