Help Ms. Peragallo

This proposal is the second part of another proposal I wrote called "Where in the World is Wissinoming?" That proposal was for a digital camera for my second grade class to use to document people and places in their community. Once we collect the pictures and analyze them, we will create a digital storytelling online. My hope through this project is a few things. First, I would like to empower the children by teaching them about where they come from and why their community is special! Second I would like for them to feel as if they are part of their community and take pride in it. The hope is that they will want to keep it clean and help others within their community.

While we originally faced the obstacle of how to take the pictures; our new challenge is now that we have the pictures and created our online story, how are we going to be able to watch it?

I have a 12 inch computer screen on my laptop so watching anything together is nearly impossible. We tried to watch a streaming video earlier this year and the children were disappointed when we were not able to see it because the computer screen was too small for us to all watch it. I do not want to disappoint them again, especially after they have worked so hard on this project. They will not only be able to see what they have accomplished but can feel proud by hearing and seeing their creation on a big screen. They will also be able to teach others by sharing their video with others who did not attend the trip.

Your assistance in donating to this project will allow my children to "see" what they have accomplished through their online storytelling and it will provide them with the feeling of being PROUD of themselves. They will also have the opportunity to move from the students to the position of teachers when they share their findings with other classes. This will not only provide my students with educational support but it will build self confidence. Don't we all want confident children to become part of our society in the future?
