Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Reading, reading, and more reading has proven to increase children's reading fluency. Making reading a daily activity, not just instructional reading, but pleasure reading is a way to get kids interest level up. My students can read but have no fluency, intention, and no comprehension. With this project completed, my students will have access to a variety of resources to choose during mini lessons. My students will read the books during independent reading time to practice fluency while I work in small groups to ensure that they are getting reading comprehension strategies. There will be daily asses to high interest level lessons to periodically so ensure that they are reading the correct independent level when working on their own. As their teacher I will pull them for conferences and strategy groups to work with their books. These books address math concepts that can be more interesting with the illustrations in them. Resources are a fabulous way to get kids reading and keep their interest, it just requires A LOT of RESOURCES. This project will get my class on the right track!
