My Students

Corrales students represent a spectrum of cultural and economic backgrounds. Teachers in New Mexico are proud of our diversity and inclusiveness. Our students relish hands-on, engaging activities from which they can discover scientific principals and mathematics foundations then express their learning creativity through writing or art. We are a small school in a village which strives to maintain a rural heritage and connection to the Rio Grande and an agricultural lifestyle. Parents walk their lamas to school to pick up their children and we hatch eggs regularly in school. If you have already made a donation to any of my projects, I truly appreciate you and please do not feel obligated to make a donation this time.

My Project

The human body contains trillions of microorganisms — outnumbering human cells by 10 to 1. Because of their small size, however, microorganisms make up only about 1 to 3 percent of the body's mass (in a 200-pound adult, that's 2 to 6 pounds of bacteria), but play a vital role in human health.

From teeth to playground equipment, microlife can be found, collected and grown all around us.

The digital microscopes will be attached to classroom ipad in order for six students at a time to study different samples of cells including bacteria, fungi and mold grown by the students from samples collected around the school.

Help us start on friendly terms with microbiology; to understand the importance of microorganisms in our survival and to understand how what Antoine Leeuwenhoek saw in 1700 changed the world.
