Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Our school is located in a low income community, but the children are wealthy with questions and the desire to learn.

My first graders are hungry for knowledge about the world around them. They have more questions than we have time to address during our school day. The resources to adequately meet those inquiries are hard to come by in our low income school. We don't even have a globe!

A globe will demonstrate a true representation of our world, but a talking globe will allow the children to learn about the world independently throughout the day. They won't need to wait for a social studies lesson or for a teacher to be available. They can go to the globe when their classwork is done, they can use it at a learning center. I am sure they will choose to explore with it during indoor recesses and free times.

Without your help, this won't happen in our classroom, and 50 seven year-old children will miss the opportunity to expand their view of the world. You can bring them the joy of learning about their planet while they are hungry to know everything they can. You will make it possible for them to become the explorers they dream to be.
