My Project

I absolutely love how my students bring a diverse range of perspectives to the classroom. Their curiosity, willingness to question the status quo, and passion for learning make teaching incredibly fulfilling. I find joy in seeing them engage with complex topics and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them. What I love most is how they make connections between different subjects, ask thought-provoking questions, and push each other to think critically.

The book's structure, which examines the journey of food from farm to table, offers many opportunities for students to analyze systems, think critically, and engage with current global issues.

The book ties together a wide array of concepts—ecology, economics, ethics, and culture. This helps students see how interconnected the world is and how their choices impact the environment and society. Pollan’s exploration of different food chains challenges students to question the practices of industrial agriculture and encourages deeper reflection on the choices we make in our own lives. This prompts them to think critically about issues beyond the classroom. As students dig into the book, they can research the topics Pollan discusses, such as organic farming, sustainable agriculture, and the environmental impact of food systems. They’ll gain valuable experience in using different research resources and evaluating sources critically. Pollan’s approach invites students to reflect on the moral and ethical aspects of food production and consumption. This gives them a chance to consider how they relate to the world and develop empathy for the living creatures and ecosystems involved in food production. The Omnivore’s Dilemma naturally fosters rich classroom discussions. It helps students engage in debates and discussions, allowing them to express their opinions, listen to others, and work through complex ideas together.
