My Students

My students are voracious readers. The only thing they love more than reading is talking about reading. As soon as I open my door in the morning, my students come up to me with their books in hand and ask me, "Mr. L., guess what chapter I'm on?" or "Mr L., did you get to the part where..." They read 20 minutes a day at school for silent reading, but I know they would read all day if I let them!

My Project

I update my classroom library pretty often. My students pay pretty close attention to what books we do and don't have, and they make sure to give me a gentle nudge when we're missing a book.

Mr. L., do you have any other Dork Diaries books?

"Mr. L., are there any other Notebook of Doom books?"

"Mr. L., do you have a book called Lost in London?"

I didn't have that last one, Lost In London. I figured at that moment that there are probably a ton of books other books that my students want to read, that I don't have in the classroom library. I asked, and they answered. The full list of books would astound you. While getting all of the books they want to read is currently well beyond my means to procure, I thought this would be a great way to get started!
