My Students

Do you remember what types of topics you liked as a kid? Exciting nonfiction stories, with colorful photographs and topics might have been one. Funny stories might have been another interest.

My second grade students come to me with all types of reading levels.

I have students who are ready to begin chapter books, and students who need a bit more practice to be there. While my lower readers look longingly at the chapter books, I know that they are not quite there yet.

My Project

That's why I like the DK Readers and Step Into Learning series. These are packed with exciting photographs, interesting topics, and funny stories. My lower readers feel that they are reading just as exciting books as my other readers. In fact, I've found in the past that my higher readers often feel that they should be reading these exciting looking books!

Won't you help out my struggling readers to become interested in reading by providing them with exciting books and not the "baby books" they often feel lower readers to be?

I can see their faces now as I bring out books for their groups about frogs, butterflies, space, silly dogs, and goofy moose! Please help us by making a donation to our project!
