Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My NYC public school students live in a neighborhood which contains one of NYC's largest low-income housing communities. In their day-to-day lives, some students can and will see a lot of ugliness, and the majority of them find school a safe way to escape that.

As their technology teacher, I recognize my students as smart, creative individuals who have the potential to shatter the "kid from the projects" stereotype.

They deserve to be provided with opportunities so that they can move on and become well-educated productive members of society. My goal is for them to be able to have choices which they never thought were possible.

My Project

My students will use these materials requested during Technology Class to sharpen not only their pencils, but their writing skills as well.

The pencil sharpener will be used to ready pencils ahead of time so that my students will always have a sharpened pencil in hand.

The scissors and markers will be used by students to illustrate or color their diagrams or illustrations from the projects they design on the computer.

Having these materials will allow them to not have to stop their creative flow by getting up to sharpen a pencil or search for the color they need. No matter where they are in their project development from drawing picture stories, to typing sentences, my boys and girls will practice daily with these requested supplies to improve as authors and illustrators.

This project will make an impact on my students, as it will provide them with the necessary tools to express themselves creatively as well as ease their mind to know that they are prepared for class!

My families are not always financially able to provide school supplies for their children, this however, should not prevent my students from having the necessary resources for school success.
