This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My third graders are the best! I love their inquisitiveness and desire to learn! However, the last few years have been tough. Many of them had experienced trauma prior to the pandemic, and the stresses of COVID only compounded their struggles. This created significant academic gaps, especially compared to their peers in higher socioeconomic areas.

Last year, when we returned to in-person learning, I noticed that many of them struggled with sitting still and maintaining their focus, even during shorter lessons.

Sitting in hard plastic chairs all day didn’t help.

Wobble cushions to the rescue! They allow students to wiggle to their heart’s content without making noises or disrupting other students. Not only can they stay engaged in learning, but those around them can stay focused as well. Because the cushions are mobile, students can carry them to any area in the room to work.

Wobble Cushions will help my students stay focused on learning tasks for longer periods of time, which will increase their academic success.
