My Students

My students come from a wide range of backgrounds. Some come to school with vast experiences and background knowledge, while others have had very limited educational experiences before entering kindergarten, and are unprepared for the high expectations of students entering school. However, all of these students are what makes my job the best job in the world! These little ones come to school excited and ready to learn and I want to fuel that excitement with fun and engaging activities.

My Project

I have requested a variety of STEM learning materials, Engineering and Building materials, and other science and social studies exploration materials to implement into my lessons. After the materials have been introduced and related to the skill or lesson, the students will then work in project based learning groups and/or independently to use the materials to explore the science and social studies concepts. This project will promote problem solving skills and critical thinking skills in a learning environment that is developmentally appropriate for students, while giving them opportunities to learn through play activities throughout the school day. Many students find the academic portion of school to be boring and the high demands of today's curriculum standards can sometimes take precedence which can cause students to dread going to school. With the implementation of these materials, students will be eager to learn and explore without even realizing they are learning.

If funded, my students will have opportunities to learn through project based learning activities that will allow them to experiment with (STEM) science, technology, engineering, and math.

These are crucial skills for our students to learn that will help prepare them for the workforce.
