My Project

My students are fortunate to get both physical education and health education. They are enthusiastic learners in both classes. Unfortunately space is at a premium in our aged building and we have to share our gym with the band students. This means that on health education days, we meet in their classrooms. One of the best ways to develop and practice interpersonal communication skills and decision making skills is through game play. While we would love to be able to do that in our gym, we need to find appropriate ways to practice these skills in the classroom instead.

Board games are a great way for my students to practice making choices and communicating with each other.

They have been enjoying my limited selection of games. I have enjoyed observing them improve their social skills and independent problem solving skills by playing games with each other. I would like to enrich these experiences by offering a wider selection of games to choose from. Having a wide range of options will help students maintain enthusiasm for learning by providing them with new challenges and opportunities. By expanding my library with games like Battleship, guessing games, and Don't Break the Ice, I will be able to meet the diverse needs and interests of all of my students.
