My Students

Captain Underpants, Babymouse, Magic Tree House, Judy Moody, Geronimo Stilton, The Zac Files, Ivy & Bean. You might not know these book series but you might remember the rush you felt when finishing a book as a child and knowing there was another in the series waiting to be read!

My third graders are excited when they walk into the classroom everyday but aren't exactly finding our classroom library very exciting.

My students make me laugh everyday, blow me away with their creativity and logic, and make me proud to be their teacher. They love to work in groups, listen to Read Alouds and complete STEM challenges but many just aren't excited about reading.

My Project

My third graders' reading levels range from Kindergarten to Third Grade. Most are not confident readers and haven't shown much excitement during independent reading time. Part of the reason is that our classroom library consists of outdated books that my students just don't find interesting.

Series books have been shown to sustain student interest and support their comprehension through familiar characters, settings and problems.

Most of the titles listed were specifically requested by my students. The excitement on their faces inspired me to start this project. Help me instill a love of reading in my students by providing them with engaging series books.
