This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help my students get excited about music through starting their own rock bands!

My students are wonderful!

They are creative, energetic and full of dreams. My students attend a low income school in California. They've had music for a few years but the older students do not have instruments to start something they can be proud of. You can see in our picture that we received these wonderful xylophones for the younger kids.

My Project

My vision is to have a full band set up in the classroom complete with a bass guitar, electric guitar and eventually a drum set and microphone. Imagine how excited students will be to come to class and work in their bands every day! They could create positive identities around these bands, they could explore different instruments, they could design t-shirts!

My students need a reason to come to music class.

The reason can't be singing (the only thing that requires few instruments), it's just not a popular thing at this school. I'm eager to find something to make our class fun and exciting. Please help us in achieving this goal.
