My Students

Kindergarten is such an exciting time - and nothing is more exciting than learning to read! With your support, my young students will finally have the materials they need to have fun while they learn the alphabet and early reading skills.

I teach a diverse kindergarten class with nearly half of my students being ELL (English Language Learners).

Many of my students couldn't afford preschool, so kindergarten is the first time they are being exposed to learning the alphabet and how to read.

My Project

My students would have a completely different kindergarten experience if we had sets of fun and exciting alphabet materials. The foam letters and letter beads would be a wonderful resource for teaching my students each of the letters in the alphabet. Once my students learn the alphabet, they'll be able to use these foam letters and beads to practice making their spelling words. The set of alphabet books would also be an amazing addition to our classroom. These 26 books (one for each letter of the alphabet) would be perfect for me to read to my students. I'm sure by the end of the school year they'd even be able to read these alphabet books to me! My students would love bending the wikki stix into the right shapes to form each letter and the highlighter tape could be used to find letters and words they know in our books. All of these wonderful reading materials would be such a welcome addition to our little kindergarten classroom.

Learning to read should be fun-and with your help it will be!

With the addition of these alphabet books and materials to my classroom, my students will be on right track towards become lifelong readers.
