My Project

I'm the librarian at an Early Education Center. It is a Title I school with 65% of our students qualifying for free lunches. Even though my students face many obstacles, the sparkle in their little eyes and smiles on their faces are full of hope and determination to learn.

Help me give my students and their families a Literacy Read and Glow Night experience.

Read and glow night is designed to reinforce students' reading skills, while having fun with their families. Our school will transform into a glow filled literacy adventure with rotating reading family fun activities in the library, gym and auditorium. In the library, lit with black lights, glow in the dark cardstock and LED displays; there will be a reading sing a-long, paired student flashlight reading and a scavenger hunt. In the gym , which is also glowing with decor, there will be letter wall toss competition, sight word relay races, letter manipulation stations, and writing under the Big Tent. The night concludes in the auditorium, a local author will be reading one of her short stories, followed by small group reading comprehension decisions.
