Help Ms. Zangrilli

We need paper. As simple as it sounds, teachers are not provided basic resources for maintaining their classrooms. While the school does have two copy machines and I do have a donated printer and computer in my classroom, I have often provided my own paper for the past three years. I teach in a severely under resourced neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York. More than 80% of my students qualify for free lunch and most of my students are below and far below grade level when it comes to meeting state standards. Paper is integral to education. I have eliminated any unnecessary paper use from my classroom but nonetheless, education without some paper is impossible. Not only do I need paper to print weekly progress reports for parents, but I print rubrics for my students, letters to go home and scaffolded worksheets for students who need more instructional support. Additionally, since my students do not have computers at home, I encourage and promote computer literacy in my English Language Arts Classroom-- with the condition that students are not allowed to print their work. I am asking for your help in providing my students with a basic necessity of learning. Something as simple and as obvious as paper can make a huge difference in the lives of under-resourced students. Please help me eliminate this small obstacle in public education.
