Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHOH) program currently serves approximately 18 students in grades K thru 8th grade. Due to the combined effects of hearing loss, speech/language delay, physical limitations and/or other health impairments, others with experiential shortages in social cues and academics, our students require continuous monitoring and academic assistance.

Our students struggle daily with receptive and expressive language.

However, no matter the challenges facing them, our students are always eager to explore the many facets of education. As a teacher in this program, I make it a priority to find the most effective ways in which to teach our students while giving them all available resources needed inside the classroom and for home learning.

My Project

Like all teachers, I am ALWAYS looking for new and exciting ways to engage my students while they are practicing and gaining mastery in content areas. Our students in the deaf/hard of hearing program have ongoing challenges in completing classroom and home learning assignments independently.

File folder games takes the stress off our students and reinforce the skills and strategies learned in our classrooms.

These file folder games will also be used in classroom centers to enhance our current curriculum while fostering student independence - the goal for all our students.

I will also be able to share my project with other teachers and their students in our deaf/hard of hearing program for years to come. The file folder games will be utilized as followup activities to classroom lessons, independent learning centers in reading, math, science, social studies and for home learning practice.

Like our project title says, "We Are Making Home Learning Fun!". Your consideration in fulfilling our classroom project will be greatly appreciated for years to come.
