My Students

How did you learn when you were in school? Do you remember wishing your teacher would make learning more fun by turning lessons into interactive activities/games?

My students are fun loving teenagers with multiple disabilities ranging from physical disabilities, autism, down syndrome to mental retardation.

They LOVE TO LEARN and they do not allow their disabilities to impede their thirst for knowledge and their yearning to be as independent as possible. Most of my students read at a pre-kindergarten to 1st grade level and require visual aids to support their learning. Our school is an occupational training center, which means we teach life skills to prepare our students for work and independent living when they graduate.

My Project

My students are currently learning about money and how to budget their finances. The Ipad will allow my students to research the cost of items they want and need to live independently, so that they will understand the difference between necessities and splurges. My students will also be able to play interactive educational apps. pertaining to money and budgeting to improve their finance/math skills. These interactive apps. would keep my students focused and allow them to learn at the same time.

By fulfilling this request you will provide a stepping stone to bringing my students one step closer on the road to independence, in which they will value for the rest of their lives.
