My Students

I LOVE you already just for taking time to read this! I am a first year teacher, and quickly learning how fast your paycheck goes right back into my students. (Especially, when you see the love these students need every day.) We are halfway through the school year and my students passion and learning growth is more than I could've ever imagined! My students come from a unique background.

These students are right around the corner from the “Happiest Place on Earth,” but they live in a very low income, high poverty area which everyday going home to is not that happiest.

When my students come to school they are excited because they are given the supplies they need and opportunities that at home they may not have. They also look forward to school, because for many, it might be the only time they get to eat during the day. Many of these children are performing below grade level and need to make learning gains that will put them back to the grade level they should be performing at. Our project will continue to help my students make learning gains and be educated about our world.

My Project

Our classroom needs more biographies, nonfiction and informational texts in our classroom library. The Who was/What is series and Ordinary People series will continue to ignite their passion for reading and learning. This class is full of students who see such negativity in their everyday life. With all of this going on they want to see the good and be the good. Reading books filled with information that is true shows these children that there is hope.

With these books my students can see that that these ORDINARY people, like you and me, can CHANGE the WORLD for the better.

All of these books will continue to inspire and engage my students in reading daily. And for years to come!
