My Students

My students are amazing youngsters who are curious about the world around them. They are a group of fun, friendly, and loving individuals who just want to learn new things. Even at such a young age, they understand the value of relationships with their peers and the adults they know well.

My school is a Title 1 school.

According to the U.S. Dept. of Education, Title I, Part A (Title I) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended (ESEA) provides financial assistance to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards. That being stated, I will be requesting various classroom supplies that I am in need of during the school year for class projects and lessons.

It is imperative that my students have the things they need to learn and grow. Since they are still so young, I want to be able to provide them with a multitude of opportunities to learn in new ways.

My Project

My school was built somewhere in the 1950's and I have to honestly say I'm almost certain that the play kitchen materials that were left for me in my kindergarten classroom were from then. The toys are broken and extremely dirty. It's not sanitary or safe for such young children to be playing with such materials.

Dramatic play centers are more important to young children than learning how to read and write.

Play time allows children to be creative. It also allows them to apply life skills with each other like using kind words or sharing. These play kitchen supplies will really make a difference with the way the children see that particular center of the classroom. It will also teach valuable lessons that will follow them through life.
