Many students come to school not only for an education but for love and a safe place. School is a place for them to mold themselves into who they will become in the future.
Our students want what we all do—a safe home, good friends, good health, opportunities to learn and grow, and the chance to make a difference in the world.
All of my students are 21st-century learners who embrace learning in new ways and take on any challenge. They are hungry to learn more about others and the world around them.
My Project
My students love that they have the ability to check out books from our classroom library, as well as request additional ones they would like to read, and our wish list is growing like crazy! They know these lists can be funded by amazing, generous people who believe in the power of a good book!
Reading is a life skill that we must keep practicing for it to be something enjoyed for life.
I believe the best way to do this is to put as many books (of THEIR interest) in as many hands of my students as possible.
The fact that my students are reading these books like crazy, and requesting additional ones they would love to read is absolutely amazing! I want to continue instilling this love of reading in my students by requesting high-interest, student requested books for our classroom library.
Two classes of about 42 students total creates such a great variety of interests, and I would love to have more new books for each of my students to fall in love with and share with their friends!
