My Students

Cooperative learning is an essential part of our classroom environment. Most of our assignments are completed in small group settings. We have recently received tables to replace our individual desks. By doing this, we need a place to store our items such as books, notebooks, workbooks, etc.

My school is in a high poverty community.

So many of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch, our school provides all of our students with free lunch. Our district can not fund expensive purchases for the teachers, so we rely on grants to fund most of our projects.

I have a small class with only 16 students. I have 10 boys and 6 girls. I have special needs students as well as gifted and talented students.

My Project

Through a previous project, my classroom was able to receive tables to replace the big, bulky desks we had. We are now a cooperative learning classroom and have "communities" to work in. We are growing and have new students arriving! We need an addition set of tables to accommodate our incoming friends. This project has been a huge success and I will continue offering this seating option to my students. They have grown into problem solvers and are able to share ideas and solutions more easily while sitting in groups. I hope to add even more tables over time.
