My Students

Can you imagine being 4 or 5 years old and starting school on a Zoom screen? We can't either, but it's what we are about to embark upon as kindergarten teachers this year!

Our sweet students come from diverse backgrounds and bring a large array of experiences to our classrooms and school.

Our school is a Title I urban school with the most diverse population in our district. Over 66% of our students qualify to receive free or reduced-price lunch. School becomes a safe haven for these scholars - where expectations are the same every day and their basic needs are met. While they come to school to learn, they thrive when they are given the opportunity to utilize a variety of resources to make learning real and fun. We hope that we can provide these resources for them to access at home as well.

My Project

Kindergarten students spend a lot of time in our classrooms building, playing, working with manipulatives and learning from each other. We want to provide them with the tools they need to have the same experiences at home during our distance learning.

We would like to create kits that include all the supplies our students will need to practice these important skills at home.

Kits will include a binder with materials inside, scissors, markers, crayons, playdough, and other fine motor activities. We will create a time during our daily zoom meetings to have students share their creations. This will not only inspire creativity, but allow students to build off each other's imagination and work as best we can as if we were in the classroom!
