I am extremely excited to start the school year off strong with teaching math standards to 1st grade! Since it is my first year in 1st grade, I do not have the manipulatives and tools I would love to have to engage my students in the standards. That is why I have created this important project!
My project is seeking math manipulatives, as well as organization bins to put the tools in, to start the school year on the right foot!
My first tool is for counting teddy bears. My students are learning to count in 1st grade, and I want to provide them with various counting resources to practice their learning. I also have counting blocks on my list for this very reason. These tools will also allow me to have students practice counting in small groups at their tables. The next item on my list is for a giant magnetic number bond. I also have number bond boards listed. While I am teaching with the number bond on the board, students will practice the math facts on their boards that match. The next item on my list is for magnetic ten's frames. We use ten's frames often in school, and allowing students to practice what they are learning by using the ten's frames is extremely important. It helps my visual learning by seeing an alternative way to practice the math skills. The next item on my list is for dry erase missing number manipulatives. Students are still mastering being able to count, so these tools will help students with practicing their number sense and counting. The last item is for storage bins. They will be used to store my math manipulatives. We hope you are able to donate to our project! Thank you!
