Wellness Center Makeover: From Old & Drag to Peaceful & Fab

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our Wellness Center is officially up and running for all students on campus to access. Students can access amazing resources and speak with our Social & Emotional Counselor and Mental Health Clinician for 1:1 counseling sessions or in-the-moment crisis needs. Although we see many students already using our space, it is not as welcoming and relaxing as we would like. We are trying to create a peaceful, relaxing space where students can independently and collaboratively learn and practice mindfulness techniques and talk initiative on their mental well-being. Our space is in an old classroom, which has been divided up to add two connecting offices. We have a few couches, but there isn't much for our students to do. We would like to add trees to replicate the calming aspect of nature and lots of fidget toys for students to utilize during times of need. Wall art and various decorations like pillows also encourage a peaceful and safe environment all around the room. Help us help our students!
