Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students view art club as a safe place to express themselves and decompress from the very real stressors of life in and outside of school. As they engage in different art projects, students become more confident in their skills as creators and form new friendships in a supportive space. I feel that, as adults, we underestimate the social and emotional complexities teenagers have to navigate on a daily basis. Teenagers are still kids and they deserve to have time to play!

I have seen such extraordinary growth in students’ sense of self competency and community over the years from participating in art club.

Part of supporting my students’ wellbeing is making sure they have reliable access to food and a comfortable environment to spend time in when the school day ends, which is something we cannot take for granted. I am requesting Crayola Air-Dry Clay, Sketch Pads, Dough Modeling Tools, Rainbow Pencils, Nestle Hot Chocolate Packets, Nabisco Team Favorites Variety Pack, and more! While art club mainly focuses on creative projects, it is open to any student who wants a place to socialize or do homework after the school day ends. Please help our school get the art room materials and snacks we need in order to keep this going!
