Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

More than 85% of our students receive free or reduced price lunch which is higher then national average. Miami Beach Fienberg Fisher K-8 is a diverse community school filled with hard working parents, unemployed parents, and/or one parent families trying their best to pay rent and provide for their children in a high cost area. Sometimes breakfast and lunch are their only meals our students receive for the day.

This project would allow our students extras during the school day and a snack to take home.

Specifically, some students not only need snacks to boost energy and focus they often need food to sooth the reactions of medications in their stomachs. Without snacks, our students become irritated and have belly aches. These reactions prevent learning and add to behavioral issues which can be easily prevent with a little food.
