Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students are avid readers who are curious about the world around them and the worlds that have been created inside of books. They consume books like candy. They read anything they can get their hands on, whether it's to read for fun, read for information or read just because they want to. With so many avid readers, our books get a lot of love, so much so that they tend to fall apart at the spine!
They love to stuff their desks with three to four books at a time that they will read simultaneously.
Our charter school does not have a library which means, I have the responsibility to provide my students with a wide variety of books. The students have asked to extend our library to include EVERY type of book from comics, chapter books, picture books, fact books and even magazines.
My Project
The books that I am requesting for my students already have a bookshelf ready for them. We just need your help in getting them through our door! The books that will be purchased will allow my avid readers to continue to explore new worlds, learn about new people and understand the world around them by reading comics, biographies, chapter books, picture books and fact books.
By helping me get these books into my students hands, I will also be able to provide them with a wider selection of diverse books with diverse characters that our classroom 'library' is begging for.
My students love to see themselves represented in books, it gives them a sense of belong. I am positive these books will continue to spark interest in my readers and help my more reluctant readers to pick up a book, even a comic!
