Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our school and our district, we believe that being multi-lingual is a superpower! My school is a Title 1 school with a majority of our students being newly arrived Spanish-speaking students from Ecuador. This project specifically impacts our dual language classrooms from kindergarten to 5th grades and classroom setup, as well as instruction for the classroom teachers. In the dual language classroom, teachers instruct one day in English (represented by the color blue) and another in Spanish (represented by the color red) in a rollercoaster model so that students not only become bi- or multi-lingual, but also biliterate citizens.

My goal in creating this project is for classroom teachers to have the resources they need to receive and instruct their students to meet their learning goals this school year so that students are able to bridge and improve in their multi-language skills.

We need privacy shields, bulletin board paper, book bins, and more! With every product purchased through the donations made, from classroom setup materials to educational resources, students will be able to have the foundations set for a successful year of learning.

Our students are special because they each bring a unique experience and perspective to their learning environment. With your help, we’ll be able to expand on their learning and to set up the environment for them to flourish!
