My Students

My students are creative, open-minded, energetic, unique and charismatic. They are very excited about the dance class and being able to express themselves in a positive way. As a teacher in a low poverty school, I am determined to deliver high expectations and high achievement learning in a safe environment for students who have been conditioned to believe that they are not capable of high achievement because of special needs and home conditions.

Despite adversity, you will find my kids eager to learn and to push forward daily.

School and my dance class/team are their outlets, and many times the only time they are able to truly be children and enjoy life.

I teach my students that they have the same opportunities that all students around them in Houston have. I never want to make them feel as though they cannot achieve the goals that they set. I believe that every child deserves the best learning experience that they could have.

Without many after school activities, dance becomes an outlet that takes them from deficiency and places them on top of the world. I believe in them, and I want them to believe in themselves.

My Project

Giving students the ability to express themselves through dance is very important. Not only does it allow them to be free, but it also creates a safe zone. Creating this environment with the proper materials will also help build confidence within the students.

Having the ballet barres will help the students learn a lot about their body placements and positions.

Using the ballet barre will also help improve flexibility when we do various exercises.

The students will also need dance shoes in order to perform at their best ability when we go across the floor. Having these shoes will allow the students to feel confident in what they are doing. Using the shoes is a necessity in dance, and we would like for all the students to be able to have what they need in order to be successful.
