Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students spend so much time in our classroom, please help make it our "happy place"! In our cart, we have zipper pouches that will help students transport books to and from school home to have access to literature at home. Students are responsible for bringing books home to read, and returning when done. Students are frequently given time to exchange books, many of which they LOVE thanks to a previous project. On this list, you will also see headphones. We were able to send many home in the past due to COVID outbreaks, but now we need some to stay in our classroom for students to practice skills on their computers and ipads. Students are also given the opportunity for project-based learning which they'll need headphones for.

Every holiday break or day off, most of my students say they will miss school.

The remainder of the items are to go with a new class rug I've purchased. Since most of our students love school, and spend most of their time during the week at school, this year I'm working towards making our classroom a fun, loving, exciting, and vibrant place. The city gives us bookshelves and basic furniture, but to make it our own, we have to spend a lot of our own money to create the magic. If our classroom feels unique and special, students are more likely to feel comfortable and to have their own happy, safe space.
