Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every year our kindergarten team likes to welcome our students to kindergarten, providing each family with a welcome-to-kindergarten gift. The students enjoy coming to school early to meet their new teachers. The welcome to kindergarten day helps to ease the minds of both parents and students. During this meet and greet we hand out important information and basic supplies students might need at home.

This year we would like to give students Play-Doh to use while at school and provide dry-erase markers for students to use as well.

We use the Play-Doh daily for fine motor activities and calming time. Play-Doh is magical. In kindergarten, we use a lot of dry-erase markers and crayons. The bulk box of both will help to provide these essential supplies for the school year.

As much as we would like to ask families to contribute to our basic school supplies, it just isn't feasible. We are a Title I-funded school. Families struggle enough. We want to take that burden off our families and provide our students with some basic supplies.

We enjoy our meet and greet time and look forward to a new group of kindergartners
