Help me give my students a chance to welcome in a new school year with support. Entering a counseling office may be overwhelming; a small snack, a stress reduction activity, and a journal can make all the difference.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
High school can be a daunting experience, especially for new students. As someone who will guide special education students for the next four years, I aim to provide them with the support they need to manage their fears and expectations.
I plan to use various tools to create a welcoming and engaging environment in the counseling office.
Snacks will help break the ice and facilitate introductions, while group activities with Legos will encourage teamwork and community building. Stress-reduction items will be available during skill-building sessions, and journals will provide a creative outlet for students to express their thoughts and emotions.
I aim to ensure every student feels valued, respected, and understood in the counseling office. With your support, I believe we can make the transition to high school a less stressful experience for these students.
