Weird Flex, But Okay...

Help me give my students flexible seating options! Freshmen struggle with transitioning from an elementary school to a high school setting. Flexible seating will help my 9th graders focus during longer and more rigorous classes!

My Project

Help give my students flexible seating options! I am a special education 9th-grade teacher in Cleveland. My school has block scheduling, which has proven challenging to my freshmen who are coming from a traditional elementary school as 8th graders. They are now being asked to sit through 4 90 minute class periods each day. This can be a struggle for general education students, but especially so for my special education students.

I am requesting funding for flexible seating options for my students!

The chair bands will be placed on the front two legs of the seats of students who struggle with staying engaged in class. When they have fidgety feet, they will be able to kick the band at the bottom of their chair. This is a silent way for students to keep their attention on the task at hand. The second flexible seating option I am requesting funding for is wobble seats. The seat serves the same function as sitting on an exercise ball without the worry of having a ball thrown in the room. Wobble seats are another way for students to fidget while keeping their attention on their assignments. These materials will allow my students to wiggle while they work!
