My Project

My students are a great group of students who are filled with a lot of energy. My students are a mixture of Brooklyn natives and recent immigrants to the country. I am fortunate to teach at a small school and I am able to teach students that are in all grades 9-12 along with students that are diverse in their needs. My students are students that are classified as general education, students with special needs as well as English language learners.

As many know COVID hit many homes in NYC very hard, many students have experienced great losses, have increased anxiety and stressors.

This is why weighted stuffed animals work in the classroom! As a teacher it is important for me to support students educational well being but also their emotional well being.

I have been using weighted stuffed animals in the classroom for about four years and they are something that truly gives comfort to my students as they do work in the classroom. Overtime my current stuffed weighted animals have been worn out and donated to much needed homes.
