My Students

My students are from a very rural community and the school can be considered a "frontier school." Most of them have lived here their whole life and many believe that because our school is so small, we have very little funding and many of the students accept that they will never have the best equipment. Currently, they have very little conditioning equipment. The little equipment they do have is usually run-down because it's 30+ years old. They love being active in sports and outdoor activities and many are hard-working farm kids.

I know with the right equipment, we can improve their training and classes to help them have a better chance of being successful and learning to maintain a fit lifestyle.

I want them to realize that they are worth so much more and that there are people who want them to succeed and to achieve great things. I want to be able to provide them with memorable learning experiences that will motivate them for life.

My Project

I came to this school with the hopes of making it possible for students in a rural community to receive the best physical education they can receive. For this reason I have been focusing on getting as much equipment as I can to ensure that equipment isn't an excuse for why we can't provide them with the best. Right now these weight plates will be part of making it possible to hold a strength training class.

Part of a proper education is teaching students lifetime skills that will enhance and improve their lifetime fitness/wellness.

One of these skills they can utilize for life is strength training. Strength training has been found to improve many facets of our health beyond building muscular strength. Among these are improved cardiovascular health, stronger bones, greater balance, improved resiliency against injuries, higher self-esteem, and many others. These are skills/benefits that will last throughout their lives and give them a better opportunity to live a healthful life.
