My Students

Our students come from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures and ability levels. Our school is a Title I school, and we have many English Language Learners. Many students come from a disadvantaged background. and are facing economic challenges.

There is a wide range of individual needs from students with learning disabilities, behavioral, speech and language disorders to students with Autism.

Despite these challenges, we all put forth our best efforts every day, making the most of the supplies we have been given!

My Project

Students will use math, and knowledge of socials studies to create weavings to go along with our Colonial America and Native Peoples units of study.

These works of art will give our students a hands-on connection to our history as a nation.

Students often have a difficult time grasping the self-reliance of native peoples and early settlers in our nation. The Wampanoag, along with many other native people, produced not only functional cloth, but beautiful pieces that told a story.

Students will need to use the math skills to produce patters or pictures in the weavings. They will get an authentic experience, which is hands on and meaningful. They will be proud of the products they produce.
