My Project

The kindergarten class, in our Harlem-based school, has been learning about the art of weaving Kente cloth from the Black Studies Curriculum. The children have expressed an interest in creating blankets for their cozy stuffed bears, which are part of an emotionally responsive practice to support the needs of our young students.

We need your help to purchase yarn so the children and families can come together for our weaving project!

The caregivers have volunteered to create looms and to sit with each child while weaving and sharing stories. The bear blankets will travel with the children through elementary school to 5th grade. What a journey!

Our kindergarten community is very excited to begin this project which combines the powerful combination of curriculum, art, and family engagement. We are looking forward to your support. Many thanks.
