Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Sharing is caring! Help us share resources with the school being hosted in our building. As we share space and resources in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, we desperately need more books to accommodate a student population which has unexpectedly doubled.

Our students are from ethnically diverse backgrounds and most come from lower income families.

We also have a large immigrant population. In addition, we are hosting approximately 300 students displaced due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy. They are middle school students who tend to dislike reading. Don't let that happen- help us show them how amazing reading can be with these class novels!

My Project

The easiest materials to share are books, and without them, basic education is a hardship. These relocated students don't have anything from their original school. Help us provide our newly hybrid school with reading materials to keep the learning going.

Though their school building may be uninhabitable and our space very limited as we squeeze into our school building, at least our minds can explore different worlds through these high interest young adult novels.

Please help us inspire a love for reading and help these students continue their education even through these tough times.
