My Students

My students face many obstacles in their day to day lives. Many struggle to have the supplies they need for school while many struggle to have food to eat. When they come into my classroom I want them to feel safe, welcomed, and have everything they need to be the most successful students possible!

My school is a small, inner city, Title I school in South Carolina with a large percentage of children at or below the poverty level.

My students, in spite of their challenges, are so eager to learn and grow in their knowledge of everything I can throw at them. Each year, weather is one of the most interesting and engaging topics I teach with my students. They love to see videos and pictures of weather phenomenon from around the world. These books will be used to bring together the whole unit of study, and by having a class set, the whole class will be on the same page!!!

My Project

I chose this particular book because no one captures the world around us better than National Geographic. They are the best and my kids deserve the best! Also, by ordering a class set of books, rather than consumable materials, I can reuse these books for years to come. The impact of your donation will be far reaching for years to come. Another plus for a class set is that they can be shared amongst the entire grade level. My grade level is made up of 4 classes so I will be able to easily share the set across our grade level. This project will reach approximately 80 kids a year for many years to come!

My students are so eager to grow and expand their minds.
