This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In Kindergarten, students learn best through hands-on, engaging experiences that bring lessons to life. Currently in our Amplify Science curriculum we are learning about Sunlight and Weather. This unit provides an exciting opportunity to explore the science of weather in a way that captivates young learners and fosters a love of learning. To enhance our students’ experience, we are seeking funding for weather-related supplies that will make this unit both educational and unforgettable.

As part of this unit, students will engage in various activities, including hands-on weather experiments, weather tracking, and interactive storytelling.

We will learn how plants and animals need sunlight to grow. We will finish growing plants and watching caterpillars turn into butterflies. As we will be learning about how different surfaces get hotter in the sun we need sun hats as we conduct our experiments. We also plan to conclude our unit with a memorable experience which is to make solar ovens using pizza boxes, black construction paper, saran wrap and make s'mores for a tasty treat. Bringing excitement into our weather unit will encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and engagement in young learners. By incorporating fun and imaginative elements, students will develop a lasting appreciation for science and literacy while strengthening their observational skills and understanding of weather patterns. Additionally, the end-of-unit surprise will serve as a powerful reward for their hard work, making learning feel both meaningful and magical.
