My Students

My students are first grade students in an urban district in southwest lower Michigan. My kiddos are energetic, enthusiastic learners! These first graders are eager to read, write, and build their brains. In first grade, we work hard every day!

For these kiddos, school is a place where they can learn and be safe.

They love having fun... and that's where YOU come in! Donating to my classroom adds those "extras" that help make learning fun and engaging every single day.

We are so fortunate to live in a community where all students are supported in their college dreams, starting from the moment they enter school. Continuing to engage my students, with your help, ensures a relationship with growing and learning that will see them through as they work toward their educational goals!

My Project

When my first graders think of the word science, they think of people in lab coats with goggles mixing potions that bubble and smoke. The first time they hear we are going to do science, that magic word sparks excitement that ripples through the classroom.

Then, they realize that science isn't necessarily what they thought it was... it isn't bubbling potions.

It isn't beakers and test tubes. And, sometimes, they feel so disappointed!

These materials will help bring excitement to the classroom as we use hands-on, tactile resources to explore content related to weather, animals, and properties of matter. It may not be bubbling potions and tendrils of smoke, but it WILL help set a foundation and a drive for discovery in my students.
